Research & Development

VANDEWIELE is a world leader in the design, construction and integration of high-tech systems for the textile industry.

Our mission is to remain the market leader, not only through continuous technology-driven innovation in our machines and production processes, but also through international cooperation and teamwork. All of this is possible thanks to our 4000 employees worldwide, including 600 in Belgium (HQ Kortrijk).

We are working on the next generation of smart and interconnected machines, with a close interaction between R&D and production. Vandewiele has a state-of-the-art production system, with our complete automated manufacturing process being realized in-house.

To join our team, we are currently looking for a Project Engineer Machine Learning.

Your function

  • Develop more efficient machines: you will dive deep in the basics of our textile machines and use data to gain insight into their operation. You develop new machine functionalities that optimize the machines and make them easier and more efficient.
  • Machine learning and data analytics: data is your partner in crime. You combine data with engineering knowledge of the machine process, knowledge of the raw material and the final product to develop new applications (containing neural networks) that observe machine operation in real-time.
  • Data flow and infrastructure: you manage and specify the required data flow and can define and manage the required infrastructure, including deployment. You put the algorithms into practice.
  • Software development and application design: you have affinity with software development. You design future-proof applications and have experience with workflow orchestrators.

Your profile

  • A master's degree in electrical engineering, electromechanical engineering, computer science or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in machine learning and data analytics.
  • Experience in embedded systems and knowledge about industry protocols and standards is plus.

Our offer

  • You will join an international, high-tech environment in which you will work closely with other specialized R&D or manufacturing teams.
  • You will be able to participate in challenging projects and get the opportunity to grow by means of a well-supervised introduction period, supplemented by internal and external training courses.
  • In addition to our motivating remuneration, you can participate in our flexible benefits plan in which you can choose your own package of benefits (including a company car with fuel card, lease bicycle, etc.).
  • Finally you will enjoy flexible hours, work at home and a family-friendly leave scheme with 38 days off.
